I only have nine days till my surgery! I can't wait! I have been working out as much as possible lately, but I've also been trying to get things in order around here so that things are taken care of for after my surgery.
For the next 6-7 days, I am going to be working out very hard, and resting for a day or two before my surgery. I want to get my body in the best physical shape possible before my surgery, but also give my body a chance to rest before the surgeon does his job. I'll be honest, I really would love to go to a spa and get a massage the day before my surgery, but I doubt that will happen. Oh well. I can always dream.
For my workouts lately, maybe the past week or so, I have bumped up how much I am lifting when I do my upper body workouts. Also, I have decided to incorporate some different abdominal/core exercises to help strengthen that area. I have been really working on my obliques lately. I got Mark to do some abdominal/core workouts with me a little over a week ago, and he was really feeling it. He usually sticks to very few abdominal/core workouts, so when I had him doing some of the things I do and adding weights for resistance, he was sweatin' a little bit. LOL. I love working out with Mark because we teach each other new exercises, and it's something else for us to bond over. I really enjoy it!
Recently, when I went to a health food store, I found some soy ice cream. I was really excited to see it because I've never seen it down here before [although I've never really looked]. I got some of the soy ice cream, and I have yet to try it still. I can't wait to try it though! And last night, at the grocery store, I randomly came across some soy ice cream sandwiches!! WHAAAAT?! Dude, I loved ice cream sandwiches growing up, so I hope that they soy ones are awesome!! I got one box of mini soy ice cream sandwiches, and I am dying to try one!
Other than that vegan treats, I have also gotten other vegan foods lately. I have been experimented more and more with food. I love to cook and bake, so anything that I can make vegan is spectacular! Just the other day, I made this mashed potato, vegan cheddar "cheese", and whole wheat lasagna noodle thing. I layered it [from bottom to top] mashed potatoes, vegan cheddar cheese, noodle, repeat two more times. I put it in an 8x8 dish, cooked it at 350-degrees for 20-25 minutes, let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, then I ate it. I thought it tasted SO GOOD! Mark, on the other hand, didn't like the vegan cheese, so he didn't eat any more passed the little bite I gave him of mine. I've been eating more soy yogurt lately, too. My favorite flavor is vanilla, and my favorite brands are Silk and Stonyfield Farms. I just bought some granola the other day, so I've been adding a little bit of that to my yogurt to "liven it up" some, since plain ol' [soy] yogurt can get boring. Yesterday, I baked some vegan chocolate chip cookies. I got the recipe out of a vegan cookbook [Vegan Planet], and the cookies were absolutely DELISH!!!! I've only had about 4-5 between yesterday and today, but they are so freakin' good! They taste almost identical to regular chocolate chip cookies, but the vegan ones have a tiny taste of maple to them because one of the ingredients is 100% pure maple syrup. And just so you know that the cookies are really good, my 4-year-old son has had quite a few of them...and he is such a picky, picky, PICKY eater!!
The only thing I can complain about right now is how I'm sleeping. I'm staying up later than I'd like, and either sleeping in or waking up early and not getting enough sleep at night. I would take a sleeping pill for 2-3 nights in a row so that I could get back on a normal sleep regimen, but with the surgery next week, I can't take the sleeping pills. I guess I will just be out really well for my surgery next week, huh?! LOL. I can't wait for my surgery and I can't wait to look as healthy as I truly am!!
